NHS Treatment
NHS treatment is available to patients under the age of 18 years who qualify for treatment on the grounds of dental health. We use a national grading system called the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN) to assess whether or not a patient will qualify for treatment.
All orthodontic practices with a contract for NHS treatment must comply with criteria which are designed to prioritise those in greatest need of treatment. Here at Solihull Orthodontic Centre we continue to welcome referrals for NHS treatment. However, patients with mild dental irregularities, for whom orthodontic treatment would provide little or no health benefit, will not be entitled to receive treatment under the NHS.
For those patients not eligible for NHS treatment, we would be more than happy to discuss our other options of private care and our finance schemes.
Private Treatment
Private Orthodontic treatment is available to children and adults and provides a choice of treatments, using the latest techniques. Treatment can usually begin almost immediately.
Increased treatment choices include the following types of appliance:
- The Damon fixed appliance system for faster treatment and extra comfort
- Aesthetic braces with ceramic brackets (tooth coloured attachments)
- Clear aligners (Invisalign)
- Lingual fixed appliances which fit on the inside surface of the teeth
Greater flexibility with appointment scheduling is available, which can include outside school/office hours.
